Marian Dougan, with books and dictionaries

I’m Marian Dougan and Words to good effect is my language and translation blog. I hope it will appeal to anyone who’s interested in language and all its glorious facets.

There are lots of great blogs on the web and it’s hard to find the time to read even just a small selection of our favourites. So I’ll try to keep posts here short and, hopefully, sweet.

I love language – English in particular. Which is just as well, because I’m a translator (from Italian and French to English) and editor.

So Words to good effect is a blog about translation, and about writing, website content, usability and accessibility, language, business and books.

The other things I like will probably find their way into the blog too: music, art, fashion, architecture, design, typography. And, of course, chocolate.

You can contact me at: md at dnalanguage dot com. Or by leaving a comment, of course: blogging’s all about dialogue and communication, so the more comments the merrier.

Thanks for visiting Words to good effect.

  1. Hello,

Forgive me if you get this twice, but I think there may have been a problem with my last comment.

I just wanted to say that I’ve really enjoyed reading your work, and have added your site to the Blogroll on my own site, As a Linguist.

  2. Very nice blog, it shows your love for languages and professional attitude. I’ve just started my own blog and added yours to my blogroll! Looking forward to exchanging comments in English and Italian 🙂
